M3 chipsets: What makes them special
The M3 chipsets are the third generation of Apple’s own silicon processors that are based on the ARM architecture. The M3 chipsets are designed to deliver faster performance, better battery life, and enhanced graphics than the previous Intel-based models. The M3 chipsets also have a unified memory architecture that allows the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine to access the same data without copying it, resulting in faster and more efficient processing.
The M3 chipsets have a 10-core CPU, a 16-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The M3 Pro chip has a 12-core CPU, a 32-core GPU, and a 32-core Neural Engine. The M3 Max chip has a 16-core CPU, a 64-core GPU, and a 64-core Neural Engine. The M3 chipsets also support up to 64GB of unified memory and up to 8TB of SSD storage.
The M3 chipsets are compatible with a wide range of apps and software, including native apps, iOS and iPadOS apps, and Windows apps through Parallels Desktop. The M3 chipsets also support advanced features such as ProRes video encoding and decoding, ProMotion display technology, and Face ID.
