Cooper Webster dominates with two wins
Australian driver Cooper Webster, who started his career as a sim racer and is part of the Red Bull Esports squad, made a strong impression by winning two out of three races over the weekend. He also finished second in the other race, giving him the overall championship lead. Webster has experience in the UK’s GB4 Championship, where he was the runner-up last year.
Akshay Bohra wins the first-ever F4 India race
The first-ever F4 India race was won by Akshay Bohra, who recently finished third in the Euro 4 Championship. Bohra started from pole position and held off the competition to take the historic win. He also crossed the finish line first in Race 3, but was demoted to seventh place after receiving two post-race penalties. This handed the race win to Webster, who also took the fastest lap.
Indian Racing League returns with city-based teams and female drivers
The Indian Racing League, which uses the Wolf GB08 Thunder single-seaters, also returned for its second season. The league has five city-based teams, each featuring a mix of Indian and international drivers. Each team also has a female driver, as part of the league’s aim to promote diversity and inclusion in motorsport.
Sarah Moore becomes the first woman to win a race in the Indian Racing League
The highlight of the weekend was the performance of Sarah Moore, who drives for Bangalore Speedsters. The British racer became the first woman to win a race in the Indian Racing League, after taking the victory in Race 2. She also scored valuable points for her team, who are currently second in the standings behind Godspeed Kochi. The reigning champions won Race 1 with Ruhaan Alva behind the wheel.
