Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker, is all set to launch two new models in India on November 2, ahead of the festive season. The models are the facelifted GLE SUV and the AMG C 43 performance sedan, both of which have been updated with new features and design elements.
GLE SUV: A refreshed design and a new infotainment system
The GLE SUV is an important model for Mercedes-Benz’s SUV offering in India, as it sits between the entry-level GLC and the uber-luxury GLS models. The facelifted version of the GLE made its global debut earlier this year in February and features a refreshed bumper, new headlights, and a fresh set of alloy wheels.
The interior of the GLE SUV also sees some tweaks, such as new upholstery and a redesigned dash. The highlight of the cabin is the updated MBUX infotainment system, which offers a more intuitive and user-friendly interface. The system also supports voice commands and wireless connectivity.
The GLE SUV is expected to be offered with three engine options in India: a 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 6-cylinder turbo diesel, and a 6-cylinder petrol. All the engines will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
AMG C 43 sedan: A sporty look and a powerful hybrid engine
The AMG C 43 sedan is a performance-oriented version of the C-Class sedan, which is one of the best-selling models of Mercedes-Benz in India. The AMG C 43 sedan gets a new AMG grille with vertical slats, larger air intakes, sporty front and rear bumpers, quad-exhausts with a diffuser, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the AMG C 43 sedan also gets a sporty makeover, with sporty seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The sedan also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch infotainment system, both of which can be customized according to the driver’s preferences.
The AMG C 43 sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol-hybrid engine, which delivers 397bhp and 500Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a nine-speed gearbox that powers all four wheels. The sedan can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
Pricing and availability
Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the GLE SUV and the AMG C 43 sedan yet, but they are expected to be announced on November 2, when the models will be launched in India. The GLE SUV is likely to compete with rivals such as BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90, while the AMG C 43 sedan will face competition from BMW M340i, Audi S5 Sportback, and Jaguar XE P300.
