People see television shows, commercials, and movies and think that maybe they could do that.  What many people don’t realize is that actors are not just born with natural talent. Many actors have spent years or even lifetimes perfecting their craft. 

Many have taken classes, workshops, and performed in different productions to try and improve their areas of expertise.  There are many facets of acting that require years of skills to be able to perfect.  Many actors use different methods of assuming different characters, and each one has both pros and cons.

Uncertainty

Actors face uncertainty at every cross.  When you begin, you might be uncertain if you have the skills and talent it will take to make it.  If you have starred in some productions and work is beginning to roll in, you may be prepared to leap to make acting a full-time gig.

Building a Resume

When you arrive at auditions, casting directors will want to see your resume and headshots.  The headshots are critical because after your audition casting agents will review the photographs, and they may help to decide on who they will cast.  Your agent can help advise you on the best way to take your headshots and which photographer to use.  The other important thing to bring is your professional acting resume.  On your resume, you need to include any relevant classes and workshops and of course, a list of all productions you have been a part of.
