AMD has announced the global availability of its Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card, which is designed to deliver incredible performance for 1440p and 4K gaming and streaming. The card features 16GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory, 80 compute units, ray accelerators, and AI accelerators. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is expected to be available from key global retailers starting from February 27, 2024, with a suggested retail price of $549 USD.
Radeon RX 7900 GRE offers more performance per dollar
The Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture, which is the third generation of AMD’s gaming GPU design. The card boasts 80 compute units and ray accelerators, which enable high-fidelity ray tracing effects in supported games. The card also has 160 AI accelerators, which power the AMD Fluid Motion Frames technology, which increases the frame rate and smoothness of thousands of games.
The card also has 16GB of GDDR6 memory, which runs at 18Gbps and provides a bandwidth of 576GB/s. The card has a total board power of 260W and requires two 8-pin power connectors. The card supports PCIe 4.0, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1, and can drive up to six displays simultaneously.
According to AMD, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card offers more performance per dollar than the competing Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070. The card is said to deliver up to 14 percent better FPS/$ on average across the top played games, with up to 18 percent better performance in rasterization games. The card also supports AMD Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), which is a spatial upscaling technique that can improve the image quality and performance of games.
Radeon RX 7900 GRE features AMD HYPR-RX technology
One of the key features of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is the AMD HYPR-RX technology, which is a driver-based solution that simplifies and manages the simultaneous operation of various AMD technologies. These include AMD Fluid Motion Frames, AMD Radeon Super Resolution, AMD Radeon Boost, and AMD Anti-Lag.
AMD HYPR-RX technology allows users to easily enable or disable these features with a single click, and achieve a performance-stacking effect that can boost the frame rate and responsiveness of games. AMD HYPR-RX technology also supports AMD’s new AFMF (Adaptive Frame Management Feature), which is a dynamic resolution scaling technique that can adjust the resolution of games based on the GPU load and the target frame rate.
AMD HYPR-RX technology is compatible with thousands of games and can be accessed through the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2024 Edition.
Radeon RX 7900 GRE is available from AMD board partners
The Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is expected to be available from AMD board partners starting from February 27, 2024. These include Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX. The card will also be available in pre-built systems from various OEMs and system integrators.
The Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is the first product in the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series, which is expected to include more models based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture. The Radeon RX 7000 series is aimed at providing gamers with the best performance and features for the future of gaming.
