What this site is, and what it is not

KeralaNews 24×7 publishes journalism for general information. We report what happened, who said it, and where the document came from. Nobody reads a disclaimer for pleasure and we have not tried to make this one enjoyable, but the distinction it draws is one our readers act on, so it is worth setting out properly.

Nothing here is professional advice. A story about a High Court order is not legal advice about your case. A story about a new labour rule in a Gulf state is not advice about your file, your employer or your residency, and we are not your lawyer or your PRO. Coverage of a health scare in a district is not medical advice, coverage of a gold scheme collapsing is not financial advice, and a report on an exam notification is not a substitute for reading the notification. Where a decision of yours turns on the detail, go to the authority that issued it or to somebody qualified to read it for you.

Accuracy, and how quickly a figure stops being true

We check before publishing rather than after a reader complains, and the method is written out in our fact-checking policy. Even so, we do not warrant that everything on this site is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. Good faith and a careful desk are what we can promise. Certainty is not on offer from anybody in this trade.

Monsoon copy dates faster than anything else we publish. An alert issued at eleven in the morning can be revised by two. A reservoir at its rule curve at dawn can have shutters open by evening. A holiday declared for educational institutions in one district is not a holiday in the next one, and not a holiday for offices anywhere. That is why our stories name the issuing authority and the hour: so you can see how old the information is and check the current version. If you are deciding whether to travel, evacuate or send a child to school, the issuing authority and the district administration are the source. We are the newspaper that told you about it.

Opinion, analysis and reporting

Three different things, labelled as three different things. A news report gives you the event and the sourcing. Analysis is marked as analysis and shows its reasoning. Opinion is marked as opinion and carries the writer’s affiliation where they have one.

Views in an opinion or analysis piece belong to the person who wrote it. They are not the position of this publication, our editors or anyone who advertises with us, and publishing an argument is not agreeing with it. Where a columnist has a stake in the subject, the piece says so. Comments below a story belong to the readers who wrote them and are moderated rather than endorsed, as our terms of service explain.

Links out, and material we did not make

We link to bulletins, gazette notifications, court orders, ministry circulars and other newsrooms because a story about a document should let you read the document yourself. Those sites are outside our control. They can change, go behind a login, or disappear, and none of that is something we can fix from here.

A link is not an endorsement of a site, its owner or its politics, and we are not answerable for what a third party publishes or collects. Quotations, photographs, video and embeds from others are used under licence, with permission, or as fair dealing for reporting, and attributed to whoever produced them. English coverage of Kerala runs substantially on Malayalam reporting, and where we build on somebody else’s work we credit them by name, high in the story. If you hold rights in something here and think we got that wrong, our copyright and DMCA page says what to send.

Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links

This site is free because advertising pays for it. Advertisements are chosen by an ad server and by the exchanges bidding on our inventory, not by our editors, and their presence next to a story says nothing about the story or the advertiser. We do not check the claims in a programmatic creative, and a product appearing here is not one we have tested or approved.

Sponsored posts carry a label at the top, in the same position every time, name the company that paid, and are written outside the newsroom. They are not editorial endorsements and never take the shape of a news alert, a live update or an official notice. We earn nothing from affiliate links at present, and if we ever add one it will be marked in the story itself. The categories of advertising we refuse outright are listed on our advertise page.

Errors, liability, and where to write

We get things wrong. When you find one, tell us: support@keralanews247.com with CORRECTION at the front of the subject line, the link, and the sentence you are disputing. What happens next, including how the note is worded and where it sits on the page, is in our corrections policy. Safety errors, meaning alert lists, shutter levels, casualty figures and evacuation instructions, jump the queue and are handled in minutes.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from anything you did or did not do in reliance on material published here, including decisions about travel, money, health, employment or immigration. Where local law gives you rights that an agreement cannot exclude, those rights stand. Questions about this page go to the same inbox, and other routes to the desk are on our contact page.
