Who owns KeralaNews 24×7

This site is published by a small private company owned outright by the working editors who founded it. There is no parent group, no outside shareholder, no political party’s media arm, no trust or religious organisation, and no business family with holdings in the sectors we cover. Nobody owns a share of this publication who is not doing the work.

The company is registered where the founding editors live and work, and it files what the law of that place requires. We do not publish the registration particulars here, largely because that material gets scraped and reused in impersonation attempts against our readers. If you have a real reason to need them, such as serving a legal notice or verifying us for a transparency body, write to support@keralanews247.com and we will send them.

Because the owners are the editors, no proprietor rings this desk. There is also nowhere for us to hide: if this site publishes something indefensible, the people who own it published it.

No state money, no party, no campaign funding

We take no money from any government, ministry, department, local body or agency, in Kerala, elsewhere in India, or in the Gulf. That includes government display advertising, a substantial revenue line for regional media here, and one we stay out of while we can afford to.

We have no affiliation with any political party, front, alliance or candidate, and we accept nothing from political action committees, party media cells or organisations acting for them. Election advertising that hides who is paying for it is refused. During local-body and Assembly campaigns we would rather take the revenue hit than let our inventory quietly become somebody’s undeclared campaign spend.

Where the money comes from

Advertising is the primary source and, at present, close to all of it. Most of that is programmatic display filled through exchanges, with a smaller amount sold directly. Occasional labelled sponsored posts and newsletter sponsorship make up the rest. The rules those sales run under, including the categories we refuse, are on our advertise page.

There is no paywall, no subscription and no reader payment of any kind. We earn nothing from affiliate links, and if we add any they will be marked in the story and described here. We have no syndication or licensing income. If that changes, this page changes with it before the money is spent, not at the end of a financial year.

How advertising is kept off the story list

Our team is small, so the separation between money and journalism here is procedural rather than architectural. It holds because the rules are few and absolute. Advertiser identities are not circulated with the day’s story list. No advertiser is told what is coming. No advertiser sees copy before publication, and no story is shown to a buyer for comment as a courtesy.

When an advertiser asks for a story to be pulled or softened the answer is no, and the request itself may become something we report. When a company that advertises with us becomes the subject of coverage, the story says so. On programmatic inventory we usually do not know who bought the impression, which is inconvenient for selling and useful for everyone else. Grants, donations and reader support

We accept no grants, donations or reader contributions. If we ever do, the terms are set in advance and are not negotiable. We name the funder. We describe the amount in a band that actually means something. We publish the purpose and duration, and state whether the funder had any say in what we cover. A grant conditioned on covering a subject, or on approval of our output, is not one we can take.

Any funder providing a meaningful share of our annual income would be named here rather than in a footnote nobody reads. The disclosure goes up when the agreement is signed, not when the money arrives, because influence, where it exists, starts at the signature.

Conflicts of interest

The owners hold no shares in companies on our beat and take no paid work from political parties, government departments, PR agencies or businesses we cover. Nobody here consults for a party in the morning and edits its coverage in the afternoon. Where an editor has a family or financial interest in a story, they say so and hand it to somebody else, and the handover is recorded, not agreed in a corridor.

Press trips, hosted stays and gifts are the routine offer here, particularly from tourism bodies, resorts, airlines and event organisers. We pay our own way or we do not go. If a trip is ever accepted on terms we think defensible, the story states who paid. Review copies and press accreditation for events we cover are accepted, and disclosed where our standards require.

Keeping this page honest

If the ownership changes, if an investor turns up, if we take a grant, or if a revenue stream grows into something that matters, this page is updated first, before an announcement anywhere else. Earlier versions are kept and sent on request.
