What you are agreeing to
These terms are the agreement between you and the publisher of KeralaNews 24×7. Reading the site means you accept them. If you do not, the honest course is to close the tab, and nothing here will nag you about it.
Anyone can read. There is no age gate on a weather bulletin. To post a comment or take the newsletter you need to be at least sixteen, and if you are using the site for an organisation, you are confirming you can accept these terms for it.
Our work, and the licence you get
The reporting, headlines, photographs, graphics, rainfall tables and page design here belong to us or are used under licence. Publishing something free to read does not put it in the public domain, and never has.
You get a personal, revocable, non-commercial licence to do what a reader does: read, print a story for yourself, save one for a bad connection, mail a link to your brother in Doha, quote a short passage with attribution and a link back. Republication is not included. Do not repost our articles in full or in substantial part on a site, in a newsletter, in an app or inside a channel, translated or otherwise, and do not frame our pages in yours. Licensing has a proper route, set out on our copyright and DMCA page.
Scraping, and machines reading us for training
You may not run a crawler, scraper or bulk collector across this site beyond what our robots file allows, take the archive wholesale, or mirror us. You may not use our text, headlines, photographs or compiled data to train, fine-tune, evaluate or ground a machine learning model, or hand our material to somebody else so they can. Reading a story in a browser is what the site is for. Ingesting the archive into a training corpus is a different act that needs asking.
We are not being sentimental. Every district story here cost something specific. A stringer took a bus to a panchayat office. Somebody made three calls to a collectorate to pin down the hour of a bulletin. What comes out of a scraped corpus is an answer for a reader in Sharjah with no district in it, no issuing authority, no hour, and no way to tell whether the alert was revised at four o’clock. That flattening is what our editors left a national desk to get away from. We are not donating our work to a machine that industrialises it.
Permission exists and is sometimes granted. Write to support@keralanews247.com saying what you want and what for. A refusal is quick and not personal. This reservation holds whatever a crawler’s own terms say about itself, we express it in machine-readable form too, and collecting after we have said stop breaches these terms as well as our copyright.
Comments, tips and anything else you send us
Comments are for argument, correction and local knowledge, and the last of those is why they stay open. A reader in a ward telling us the culvert washed out on Tuesday beats the press note. Removed without discussion: abuse and threats, communal or caste incitement, anything exposing a private person’s address, allegations we cannot stand behind, spam, unlicensed recruitment offers, and posts dressed as an official notice. In an emergency we delete unverified lists of alert districts on sight, because a list in a comment travels as a screenshot and stops carrying your name.
We moderate, but we do not promise to read everything before it appears, and nothing here makes us answerable for what a reader writes. We can edit, refuse or delete a submission and close comments on a story. When you post or send material for publication you keep your copyright and grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit for length, archive and republish it alongside our journalism. What you send must be yours to send. Confidential tips are not submissions for publication, and how to send one is on our contact page.
Links out, and material we embed
We link to bulletins, gazette notifications, court orders, ministry circulars and other newsrooms, because a story about a document should let you read the document. Those pages are not ours. We do not control what they say tomorrow, what they set in your browser, or whether they stay up, and a link is not an endorsement of anybody’s editorial line.
Embedded material works the same way. A video or a map loads from somebody else’s servers under their terms, and interacting with it means dealing with them. Where an embed sets cookies, our cookie policy says what we know.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. We do not warrant that pages will be uninterrupted, that one will load during a red alert when half of Kerala is refreshing it, that a figure published at noon is still current at four, or that anything here fits a purpose you have in mind.
News reporting is not professional advice, and the limits of what we publish sit on our disclaimer page. Read it as part of these terms. Where local law gives you rights an agreement cannot exclude, those rights stand.
Liability, and indemnity
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or from anything you did in reliance on something published here, including lost profit or interrupted business. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us to read the site, which is nothing.
If you break these terms and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and legal costs. The clause is aimed at the two situations that actually arise: somebody republishing our archive commercially, and somebody using a comment thread for an allegation they could never support.
Losing access
We can suspend access, remove content or close a comment account when these terms are broken, without warning where the breach is serious or continuing. Scraping at scale, evading a block, impersonating our masthead and posting material that puts somebody at risk all sit there.
If you think a block was a mistake, write to the inbox and a person will look at it. We would rather have an argumentative reader than a quiet one, and a block is not a verdict on your opinions.
Which law applies, and how we would rather settle
These terms are governed by the law in force at the publisher’s place of business, which is where the company is registered and the editors work, and a dispute goes to the courts competent there. We do not print the registration particulars publicly, for the reason our ownership and funding page gives: that material gets scraped and reused to impersonate us. If you need them to bring or serve a claim, ask.
Before either of us pays a lawyer, write to support@keralanews247.com. Almost every complaint that reaches us is a factual dispute rather than a legal one, and those are settled the same afternoon under our corrections policy. If a clause here turns out to be unenforceable the rest survive it, and a delay in enforcing something is not us dropping it.
Changes to these terms
We update this page when the site changes or the law does. The date below moves, and where a change affects your rights we flag it at the top for a period. Using the site afterwards means accepting the current version.
Our reporting standards are not part of this contract, though they are the part most readers actually want, and they are in our editorial standards.
If you want to reuse something of ours, write first. It is a short email and the answer is often yes.
